The Bistrot des Halles was taken over by Jean-Pierre et Isabelle Breud in 1999. Jean-Pierre used to walk by this bistrot quite often and had a soft spot for its authentic Parisian café look.
A twist of fate put the business in his hands a few years later.
Jean-Pierre makes the sandwiches and the cheese and charcuterie (1) boards behind the bar and Isabelle delivers no-nonsense traditional French dishes from the kitchen: pepper rump steak or tartare steak (2) with homemade fries at €14, homemade duck confit with potatoes forestière (3) at €15.
The cheese and charcuterie boards are heavenly. Quality and diversity with Corsican, Spanish or Italian boards. For ex: mortadella, pistachios, speck, pancetta, coppa, gorgonzola, provolone, pecorino for the Italian one.

The sandwiches are delicious and have found a place in ‘My best sandwiches’ listing.
Let’s not forget that they were awarded the ‘coupe du meilleur pot’ in 2000. This is a trustworthy address!
(1) Cold meats specialities, using cooked, cured or smoked pork.
(2) Raw minced beef steak, seasoned with capers, onions, Tabasco and Worcestershire sauce etc… A must-try!
(3) Potato stuffed with mushrooms and cream.
